Alastair Ottesen

Alastair Ottesen writes genre-bending songs that fuse American folk music and 60s pop into a unique blend. Words and melodic invention combine, speaking directly to the heart of the listener. Ottesen's band provides the perfect setting for his songs, surrounding them in both delicately restrained intensity and psychedelic frenzy.

Joel Arnow

"I'm Not Sleeping Anyway" is a compilation of songs and instrumental tunes written by drummer and producer Joel Arnow.  This recording is a true collaboration with different singers and instrumentalists exploring themes of coming of age, modern love and the meandering spirit.  Stylistically,  the record shifts between indie-folk pop and electronically tinged anthems, interspersed with free improvisation interludes.

The Knells

The Knells are an art rock ensemble from Brooklyn, NY. Drawing inspiration from over 1000 years of western classical music and deftly fusing it with the worlds of progressive, psychedelic, and experimental rock, their music “is a must for those seeking untamed new musical hybrids” (The Daily Beast). The New York Times writes, "[The Knells'] lyrics ponder cosmic conditions and cycles — time, space, dissolution, regeneration — and they are sung by three women, often in cascading counterpoint that can invoke Renaissance polyphony or Minimalism. The songs… sweep ahead, through passages of tolling solo electric guitar, of elegiac vocal melodies and harmonies, of note-bending quasi-Indian strings and guitar, of progressive-rock processionals.”

The Pookestra

The Pookestra is a group of dedicated improvising musicians residing in NYC directed by Carolin Pook. Their music is created within 2 weeks, rehearsed once and is never performed again after its premiere. Pook writes and conducts for the specific musicians in her band, featuring each member in unexpected arrangements that will take your ears in unexpected places; from a ugly and comfortable sounds that make your mind wander between now and hysteria.
